UMA/UMM Special Education Certification Program
People interested in becoming certified as Special Education teachers in Maine are invited to view a videostream of an information session outlining the new UMA/UMM Special Education Certification Program.
The program features Heather Ball, Special Education Program Coordinator at the University of Maine at Machias (UMM). Ball discusses opportunities for Special Education certification made available by UMM in collaboration with University College and the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA). For those who alreadyhave a bachelor’s degree, Ball suggests post-baccalaureate options for certification.
As part of the new agreement, students would enroll in UMA's Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree program while completing all of the courses (including student teaching) that are required to be fully certified by the Maine Department of Education.
