The University of Maine at Augusta’s Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies Program is available at University College Centers* and sites statewide. The program offers every Maine citizen access to two years of high quality college education in the best liberal arts tradition. The program endeavors to provide a foundation in the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences.
For students who graduate from the program and wish to continue their college education towards a baccalaureate degree, the courses in this program are transferable, and students normally enter as juniors. The program includes 21-credit hours of free electives that makes it ideal for students taking specific courses for transfer to another college or university or simply to suit individual needs. Students should work closely with their advisor to get the maximum from this degree.

The following items will be needed as part of the application process:
$25 non-refundable application fee
high school transcript or GED test scores
all official college transcripts
placement tests in reading, writing, and mathematics (unless waived by the Admissions and Records Office)
minimum English language competency permitting registration in ENG 005 and REA 008 or higher
appropriate documentation of immunization history (if born after 1956)
