Early Childhood Certificate
Eastern Maine Community College
Eastern Maine Community College’s 37-credit hour Early Childhood Certificate program is designed for those who want to learn the skills and develop the attitudes that are needed for entry-level positions at institutions and agencies serving young children. It is also for those who are in-service personnel who want to upgrade their skills. Offered over interactive television (ITV) over the next three years, the technology courses in the certificate program offer the student the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical information to prepare for work in child care centers, schools and children’s service agencies, and to strengthen the background brought to an employer. The general education courses are widely available via ITV or at a community college or university campus or University College Center* or site. All 37 credit hours may be applied to the 64 credit hour associate’s degree available at the EMCC campus. In addition, the Early Childhood Certificate program is excellent preparation for continued study in education and child development.
