Placement Testing
Hancock County Higher Education Center administers a computerized
placement test called Accuplacer (CPT) for prospective and current
students. The test serves as an assessment tool to determine proper
course placement in Reading, English and Math. They are an important tool for determining just what
course a student should register for. For detailed information about the sub-tests and a sample test, go to: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/accuplacer/preparation-sample.html
Placement testing is offered for both University of Maine at Augusta
degree programs and Eastern Maine Community College degree programs.
There is no charge for the tests, however, Eastern Maine Community College does charge $10 if students retake the test.
Accuplacer exams are given at the Center on the following schedule:
- Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm
- Friday mornings at 9:00 am
Please note the following information regarding the CPT:
- No calculators are allowed.
- No time limit on the test (Normally 1 - 2 hours is required)
- Bring a photo ID to the center on test day.
Please call the Center at 1-800-696-2540 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
