Graduate Certificate in Food Science and Nutrition offered State-wide
Professionals working in education, healthcare, food processing and other fields can now earn UMaine’s Graduate Certificate in Food Science and Nutrition at University College centers state-wide. Courses in the online program are accessible to students without high-speed home internet access through University College centers state-of-the-art computer labs.
The certificate program requires 15 credits of advanced coursework. Students may choose to emphasize either food science or nutrition courses in the curriculum, or take a blend of courses.
This summer, UMaine will offer Research Methods & Biostatistical Techniques. This course evaluates research design and statistics used in the areas of nutritional and medical research.
For fall, the online course will be Food Preservation, which discusses the chemicals and processes (freezing, dehydration, canning, irradiation, extrusion) used to extend food quality and safety.
