Are you a new student?

If you are new to the University of Maine System and want to register for a distance learning class, please contact University College at 1-800-868-7000 or teleservice@maine.edu

Are you a student planning to take courses from more than one university?

If you are already a student and you plan to enroll in distance learning classes from more than one university, please read about and understand the following important changes:

Changes to the way your credits will be accepted

Things you should know about billing, and more

OK, why the changes? Under the new system, UMS universities no longer host each other's distance learning courses on their files. Instead, students must register directly with the university offering the course they select. For example, if you are a UMA student enrolling in one or more UMA courses plus an online or ITV course from, say, UMFK, you must register as a student on both UMA and UMFK files.

The good news: If you have been admitted to and/or taken a course at one of our UMS campuses, you'll be able to use the distance learning class search portal to register for a distance course from another campus. Click here for step-by-step instructions for using this portal.

First you will add a distance course to your wish list, and then you will be given an enrollment appointment that's appropriate to your status at your home campus. If you are a third-year student at your home campus, for example, you will have third-year student privileges at the distance campus. All campuses will have open enrollment for distance courses and, if a course is still open, you will be able to enroll at any time.
