COASTAL SENIOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
The Coastal Senior College, affiliated with the University College at Rockland, is pleased to offer this scholarship to one student each fall semester and one student each spring semester. This scholarship will cover the cost of one college class, including tuition, fees, books, and required materials. The course must be taken at the University College of Rockland.
PURPOSE: to provide access to a college education for non-traditional students in the Maine mid-coast area.
ELIGIBILITY:
Highly motivated
Stated financial need
Enrolled in a degree program
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Please include the following in your application
A one-page introduction to yourself that includes the following: your name, address, telephone numbers, date of birth, and educational background, including date of high school diploma or GED and current academic status. Also, please include a letter of recomendation, which can be a letter from an employer, friend, or family member.
An accompanying essay with your answers to these questions:
Why you want to attend or are attending college
Why you have decided to go to college at this time in your life
Your financial need
Your goals for the future and how your college education will expedite these goals
Reasons why you believe you will be successful
SELECTION PROCESS: The successful candidate will be selected based on motivation, financial need, and potential for success. The decision will be made by a committee comprised of representatives of Coastal Senior College and the Director and the Coordinator of Student Services of the University College at Rockland. The applicant may be interviewed by the committee at its request.
FUNDING: Payment of this scholarship will be made directly to the University of Maine at Rockland.
