New USM Graduate Programs Offered Onsite at UROCK in Education

The University of Southern Maine is ready to announce its delivery of two masters degrees in Rockland from their College of Education and Human Development: M.S.Ed. Professional Educator & M.S. in Educational Leadership. These programs are chosen based on the current level of interest and enrollments in USM's Graduate Certificate in Literacy Education as well as in USM's Assistant Principal Certificate.

For more information on these programs contact the UROCK office at 596-6906 or the Office of Graduate Admissions in Gorham at 1-800-800-4USM or 780-5306. Registration for these courses is done by calling the Graduate Admissions Office or picking up a registration packet from the UROCK office and mailing it to USM along with your payment.

The Educational Leadership-Assistant Principal Certificate program which started at UROCK in Fall 08 is designed to meet the state requirements for a Maine assistant principal's certificate and to provide a foundation for graduate work in educational administration. This 12-credit program includes the following courses:

EDU 670  Introduction to Administration
EDU 671 Organizational Behavior
EDU 678 School Law
EDU 679 Evaluation and Supervision of School Personnel

At the conclusion of the certificate program, students will have satisfied state requirements for a Maine assistant principal's certificate and will receive a USM certificate of program completion which can be cited on resumes and vitae. Students will have completed a significant part of the coursework for the Master's degree or Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership.

Spring 2010 USM Graduate Courses

USM and UROCK are collaborating in the offering of courses in the following degree and certificate programs:

Certificate in Literacy (completed—new cohort has yet to be announced)Certificate in Assistant Principal (courses currently being offered—program at halfway point—students may still register for these courses)Masters in Educational Leadership (courses offered Fall 09—Students with the Certificate in Assistant Principal are going on to work on this degree)Masters in Professional Educator (courses offered Fall 09—Students and classroom teachers from the Literacy certificate are going on to work on this degree) USM Graduate Courses being offered at UROCK in Spring 2010 :
